Advising Jeopardy Game

Picture
For fun, and to learn more about the advising environment at the University of Arizona, I created a Jeopardy-like game with Advising and U of A answers. This type of game can be used as a fun ice-breaker and an educational tool for groups of advisors.

MS-PowerPoint is used to play the game. The main board (as seen below) is full of links that take the Master of Ceremonies to the question (as seen below also) I suggest having teams of advisors compete against each other in a conference room or classroom with a digital projector. One person from each team should be appointed the ‘buzzer’ to buzz-in and try to say what the question is.

You can download the native MS-PowerPoint file. Once you download the file you can create your own questions and answers reflecting your school’s environment. It’s loads of fun!

“Developmental counseling or advising is concerned not only with a specific personal or vocational decision but also with facilitating the student's rational processes, environmental and interpersonal interactions, behavioral awareness, and problem-solving, decision-making, and evaluation skills.” – Crookston, 1972

“Academic advising is the only structured service on the campus in which all students have the opportunity for on-going, one-to-one contact with a concerned representative of the institution.” - W. R. Hably
